Introduction to Chinese Sword Dance

Traditional Dance Workshop

100 Canadian dollars
Bathurst Street

Service Description

The Chinese Sword Dance Workshop introduces participants to the graceful tradition of jian dance, where movement, rhythm, and storytelling come together. Guided by experienced instructors, participants will learn fundamental sword techniques, flowing footwork, and expressive gestures that emphasize balance, control, and elegance rather than combat. The workshop explores how the sword is used as an extension of the body, blending softness and strength to convey emotion, character, and cultural meaning. Suitable for beginners, this session focuses on mindful movement, coordination, and an appreciation of classical Chinese aesthetics. ——No prior experience in dance or martial art needed
